Amazing Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

November 26, 2021

In recent years, apple cider vinegar has made a huge comeback for those looking to lose weight, detox and just feel better overall. It was a staple in the home over 100 years ago and one of the main remedies often recommended as a cure-all.

ACV has been shown to assist with burning fat, especially when taken after a 12-hour fast. Havasu Nutrition’s Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules help with increasing energy, weight loss and digestion and are gluten free, which makes them easier to digest.

ACV’s claim to fame is acetic acid, which forms during fermentation and has a myriad of health benefits such as being a natural probiotic and an antioxidant. ACV also aids in lowering blood sugar, calming acid reflux, lowering cholesterol and lowering potassium levels among many other benefits. Organic unfiltered ACV contains “the mother,” which has strands of protein, enzymes and good bacteria that are excellent for boosting immunity.

Recently we wrote about the seven surprising ways you can benefit from ACV, and here’s a reminder that it’s going strong in nutrition circles:

Natural Probiotic and Antioxidant

Because it’s fermented, ACV is a natural probiotic and antioxidant, which helps to fight chronic illness and disease like cancer. The job of the gut is to extract energy, absorb nutrients and remove waste. When taking probiotics, the majority of probiotics end up at the end of the intestinal system also known as the colon. Microbiomes, or good bacteria, live in the gut as an ecosystem that contains colonies of bacteria, fungi, viruses and archaea that help the gut to process some of food nutrients. These good bacteria help to improve the body’s immune system and support the durability of the intestinal wall.

Aids in Weight Loss

Some studies have shown that taking two capfuls of ACV in the morning can aid in weight loss. Acetic acid in apple cider vinegar has been shown to decrease insulin levels, lower blood sugar levels, reduce and burn fat, and increase metabolism. But it’s important to be careful drinking it straight because it could burn the esophagus. Mixing it with water can help to minimize the risk of stomach and esophageal burning. It has also been shown to increase the feeling of being full and decrease caloric intake. Try it gummy-style, too!

Heavy in Important Nutrients

ACV contains magnesium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, amino acids and antioxidants, all which are vital for detoxing the body and helping to build muscle and support your body’s immune system. It is also excellent for supporting healthy skin and hair because it has anti-aging properties, combats hair tangles, reduces hair frizz, seals the hair cuticles so you retain moisture at the root, and it may help treat acne.

Helps People with Type 2 Diabetes

Taking two teaspoons with a meal that has complex carbohydrates can help to reduce glycemic levels that cause a spike in blood sugar. Also, if you take a teaspoon of ACV before bed, you can help keep glycemic levels in check. It has also been shown to treat chronic yeast infections that are often the bane of diabetics if applied topically.

ACV is delicious when combined with balsamic vinegar and added to a salad with hemp seeds. However, there are some precautions to consider if you begin an ACV routine. You should speak with your doctor, or avoid ACV altogether if:

  • you have low potassium levels
  • are taking certain medicines or diuretics
  • if it makes you feel nauseated

If you experience vomiting or nausea, or any negative reactions to ACV, then stop taking it and call your healthcare provider. These symptoms are uncommon but it’s important you address them immediately if they arise.
