Hair In All Of The Wrong Places
July 27, 2020
Can I tell you a secret? Since I was 13 years old I have always struggled with unwanted facial hair. It started off on my upper lip, but then as I got older it spread to my chin, along my jawline, and around my neck. And recently it’s started popping up on my chest.
On top of that, I have had to deal with acne off and on over the years. It was pretty bad when I was 14 and 15. It went away for a while until around 10 years ago.
When it came back, it was even worse than it was in high school. I’m talking cystic like acne, these big huge bumps that were almost impossible to hide. From time to time they would get infected, especially if there was an ingrown hair involved.
For my embarrassing facial hair and skin, I tried every medication and procedure you can imagine. If it was topical, I have tried it. If its a prescription I have taken it. Homemade mask? Yep, I have tried those too.
While I found some success with one prescription, the side effects were horrible, and when I was having to get additional prescriptions to treat the side effects, I knew I had to stop.
And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, about two years ago, I started to notice that my hair all of a sudden seemed to have stopped growing. Like a switch had been flipped, and that was it.
Talk about stressing out. How am I losing hair on my head, yet had plenty of it on my face? I had all kinds of tests performed, with completely normal results. I started using over the counter topicals hoping it would help.
It just left my hair looking gross and didn’t seem to make a difference.
So, after a couple of months with no success. I gave up trying and really gave up on myself. And to tell the truth, I sorta got depressed. Here I was, a woman with my 30’s dealing with teenage acne and old lady hair problems at the same time.
But finally, I had enough and knew that if I wanted things to change, it was going to be up to me.
That’s when I started doing some research and learned that Saw Palmetto had shown to be effective in treating not only unwanted facial hair but acne and thinning hair too!
I thought, wait a minute. I have to try this. So, that’s when I found Havasu Nutrition’s Saw Palmetto. And it has been a game-changer.
I have been taking it for about 6 weeks now and I can already see some noticeable results.
For one, my hair doesn’t seem to be falling out at an alarming rate like it once was. I even received a compliment from a friend of mine last week about how my hair looked thicker.
There are even some baby hairs growing where there wasn’t any hair growth.
As far as my facial hair goes, because this is the worst of all of the problems, I know this is going to take some time to really see a dramatic change, but what I have noticed is that one spot on my chin is smooth when it wasn’t two months ago. And the hair on my jawline is starting to go away on the left side.
The acne, it’s improving too. My breakouts don’t seem to be as often.
Now, I am not telling you that Saw Palmetto is the magic end-all-be-all answer. Nobody is going to wake up with Rapunzel-like hair or find that every bit of facial hair is gone. What it is going to do is work with your body to promote hair growth where you want it, and inhibit hair growth where you don’t.
However, it’s going to take time. So don’t get discouraged if you don’t see noticeable results until a few weeks later.
I have also been cutting back on my sugar intake and drinking more water too. Every little bit helps.
So, you might be asking yourself how do you know if this is right for you?
Like me, if you are spending hours every week plucking, waxing, and shaving, just imagine the time you can get back with even a small reduction in facial hair growth.
If you are a grown-up with skin like a pimply-faced 8th grader, then yeah, it’s probably for you too.
While it’s normal for women to lose 50-100 hairs a day, if you are starting to notice thinning around your forehead or in your part, it could be a sign of hair loss.
One thing you can do to see if you are experiencing normal shedding or hair loss is the pull test. Simply run your fingers through sections of your hair, and if you are finding 6 or more loose hairs with each section, it could be an indicator of something going on.
But before taking any supplement, talk to your doctor, and make sure that Saw Palmetto is right for you.
