Do Supplements Actually Work?

October 1, 2018

That’s the big bad question. And in this blog, we’ll find the red-riding answer. Read on!

But first—

What are supplements?

Supplements are products manufactured to augment one’s diet and enhance healthThese are taken orally, as a capsule, pill, tablet, liquid, or powder. Health supplements include vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.

What are supplements for?

There are whole foods, there are medications, and then there are supplements.

Let me tell you what supplements are not for. Supplements are not intended as a substitute for food or medication.

They are intended to deliver nutrients to your body that you may not otherwise have been able to consume in sufficient quantities due to various reasons. One huge—and common—reason is your busy lifestyle. Unfortunately, many of us are unable to follow a healthy diet due to our demanding schedules. This is where supplements come in.

Do supplements actually work?

Absolutely!

As mentioned above, supplements are supposed to do just that—supplement.

They supplement our lifestyles and health habits. They make up for our deficiency in necessary nutrients. They provide special nutritional needs that our body needs, and that we can’t get from our regular food intake.

Naturally, supplements cannot stand on their own. That’s why they’re supplements! They were designed as support!

Think of it this way.

Our favorite heroes always have hero support.

Pepper and Rhodey for Iron Man.

Felicity and John for Green Arrow.

Alfred for Batman.

Lois Lane for Superman.

Supplements are the hero support to food and medicine. Sam to The Lord of the Rings’ Frodo.

If you’ve seen the third and final movie of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Return of the King, Frodo (the bearer of the ring) traveled far with his friend, Sam, to destroy the ring in the fires of Mount Doom. Unfortunately, by the time they got there, Frodo was already too weak to go on. And then comes the best line in the entire movie (for me): “I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you!” Sam then proceeds to carry Frodo on his back. To make the long story short, the ring was successfully destroyed with Sam's invaluable help.

You know where I’m going with this, right?

While food can generally meet most of your dietary needs if you follow a good nutritional plan, you don’t always get to consume everything you need. Supplements make up for what’s lacking.

And the more we combine supplements with routine exercise and eating right, the better the results we’ll see.

Consistency is also key to seeing results. Which is why at Havasu, we offer a subscription plan to set the order up once and have us send auto re-orders, so you never miss a day. Check out Havasu’s line of premium health supplements here

Our supplements are not intended to prevent, diagnose, treat, or cure. We always recommend speaking to a physician or dietitian to make sure they're right for you.

So—do Havasu supplements really work?

Absolutely! The proof is in the results. - Kendra
